Liaoning University of Petrochemical Technology, located in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, is a multi-disciplinary provincial key university featuring petrochemical industry. Liaoning Province has established a university with PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC as the "Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers" of the Ministry of Education.

The first batch of pilot schools in Liaoning Province, scholarship institutions of China government for studying in China, and first-class discipline (Class A) universities are the basic training bases for high-level talents of ethnic minorities, undergraduate training bases for ethnic minorities, and undergraduate training bases for petrochemical industry in Liaoning Province established by the Ministry of Education.

Founded in 1950, the school is the first petroleum industry school in China. /kloc-moved to Fushun in 0/953 and was named Fushun Petroleum School. 1958 was upgraded to Fushun petroleum institute. 1970 was renamed Fushun Institute of Chemical Technology. Fushun Petroleum Institute was founded in 1980. In June 2000, the former Fushun Coal Industry School merged. In February 2002, it was renamed Liaoning University of Petrochemical Technology.
