1957 ——1990 served as the first and second directors and the third honorary director of theoretical and applied mechanics Institution in China. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Qu left the Arsenal to teach at Yunnan University. He has taught descriptive geometry, mechanical principles, tool science and machine tools in department of mechanical engineering, and materials mechanics and experiments in the Department of Mining and Metallurgy. At that time, the president of Yunnan University was Mr. Xiong Qinglai, who was famous for promoting rising stars. President Xiong noted that Qu teaching is rigorous, conscientious and responsible, and pays attention to integrating theory with practice, and has rich experience in tool manufacturing. 1949 was promoted to associate professor. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Qu continued to teach at Yunnan University. When 1954 was adjusted, it was transferred to Kunming University of Science and Technology to undertake the teaching and scientific research work in department of mechanical engineering, and served as the department head of mechanical engineering. From 65438 to 0958, Qu visited the Soviet Union and was promoted to professor. He has served as vice president, vice president and director of academic Committee of Kunming University of Science and Technology.

Driven by Qu, the mechanical department of Kunming University of Science and Technology has gradually developed a good style of solving practical problems from practice from teachers to students. Since 1958, the mechanical vibration research group led by him has cooperated with the machinery factory in Kunming area to tackle the problems that need to be solved in production, and has achieved many achievements, and won the honorary title of "advanced collective" at the youth socialist construction activist conference held in Yunnan Province and the whole country in 1958. According to their scientific research results, 1959 Higher Education Press published the book Vibration in Machining. From 65438 to 0954, after teaching in the Mechanical Department of Kunming University of Science and Technology, Qu organized young teachers and graduating students to set up a mechanical vibration research group, and worked closely with relevant machinery factories in Kunming. At that time, there were some vibration problems in factory production, such as reaming, high-speed cutting of slender parts, boring bar vibration and so on. These are all self-excited vibration problems in metal cutting. The theory of self-excited vibration is very complicated and has not been completely solved so far. On the one hand, the group led by him aims at solving practical problems, on the other hand, it also conducts theoretical discussions. Finally, he wrote the article "The Principle of Shock Absorption" and put forward the theoretical basis for the calculation of shock absorption for the first time. The annular shock absorber designed in this paper has radial clearance and tangential clearance, which can eliminate lateral vibration and torsional vibration at the same time, so it has attracted attention from all sides. Recently, this kind of shock absorber has been adopted in the spindle design of Yunnan Machine Tool Plant.

1958, when Qu visited the Soviet Union, he visited the professor (H.C. Archerkan) in Moscow Machine Tool Institute and discussed Qu's paper "The Principle of Shock Absorption" with him. Professor Archer Kang pointed out that this paper has two characteristics: (1) No annular shock absorber has been proposed before; (2) The concept of the influence of the shape of the impact block on the recovery coefficient is novel. He suggested highlighting these two characteristics and writing an essay. Qu's rewritten paper was published in the magazine Machine Tools of the Soviet Union. In Kharkov, he visited Professor ибабаков and Professor лиитей from the Multidisciplinary Technical College. After discussing Qu's paper, Reeve wrote a comment, which is of great significance to engineering practice.

At present, although great progress has been made in the study of shock absorber and its principle, the annular shock absorber for rotating parts is still adopted by many designers.
