It ranks among the member universities of the national "double first-class", "21engineering", "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" and "double first-class" agricultural alliance.

Southwest University, located in Chongqing, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), co-founded with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Chongqing. It ranks among the national Shuangliu, 2 1 1 engineering, 985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform construction universities, and member universities of double-class agricultural alliance. In 2005, Southwest Normal University and Southwest Agricultural University merged to form Southwest University.

Chongqing Institute of Education ranked third:

Chongqing Education University is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning established by Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It has been selected into the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" integration of production and education 100 application-oriented undergraduate colleges, the first batch of pilot colleges of the "Cloud-Digital Integration Science and Education Innovation Project" of the Ministry of Education, the member units of the National Universities of Applied Sciences League, and the Chongqing Primary and Secondary School Teacher Development Center.
