The New College French series is a new generation of college French textbooks, which is a set of universal college French textbooks with strong practicability and characteristics of the times, reorganized and compiled by the French Group of the College Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee on the basis of summarizing the experience of using the original college French textbooks and according to the College French Teaching Syllabus (second edition). Now it is listed as "the tenth five-year national planning textbook for general higher education" by the Ministry of Education. The outstanding features of this series of textbooks are as follows:

1. The teaching material system and content have changed from knowledge to ability, and the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability to use French has been strengthened to meet the needs of reform and opening up. For example, each unit in the first and second volumes has added a dialogue part; The exercises in each class are designed in various ways to cultivate students' language skills and communicative competence.

2. Give full play to students' learning enthusiasm and mobilize their subjective initiative. If pronunciation teaching, grammar practice and vocabulary practice are strengthened, the selected texts will be vivid, catchy, easy to practice and full of modern flavor, keeping up with the development trend of globalization in today's world.

3. In order to improve students' cultural literacy, the introduction of France and French-speaking countries has been strengthened, such as compiling cultural background knowledge, choosing poems, proverbs, humorous stories, famous sayings and aphorisms, Paris subway maps, Paris tourist maps, etc.

4. In order to meet the needs of society, this series of textbooks is also closely related to the existing French exam. For example, CET-4, the national unified examination of French proficiency for people with the same educational level, the title examination of the Ministry of Personnel, and the French TEF examination.

5. In order to facilitate teaching and self-study, this textbook has also compiled a teaching reference book, which includes instructions for the use of the textbook, translation of texts and reading materials, and practice answers. This series of teaching materials is also equipped with teaching tapes.
