Come on! ! !
I think the purpose of basic skills is to maximize your physical function, so that you can express your voice as you like when playing!
So I think there is no standard for practicing basic skills. Basic skills are equivalent to lifelong practice, which can't be stopped or interrupted!
When practicing, many people will practice slowly, which is good. The main purpose is to master the feeling of using your hands and feet, how to master your movements correctly, and let yourself easily make any sound you want!
When practicing hands, the most important thing is to pay attention to the use of wrists. You must completely relax your shoulders, arms, wrists and fingers. Never use brute force when playing. Always pay attention to whether the sound of each blow is accurate and explosive, not brute force; Whether the impact point of each stroke is in the center of the drum surface; And whether the sound is even!
If you want to make a good sound, first of all, the place you hit must be in the middle of the drum head. Then, when you hit the drum surface, you must swing the stick quickly. When the club head touches the drum head, you can't press it with your wrist any more. You have to take the stick naturally, take it away! This is called fast, "hard" and accurate!
It's similar when practicing feet. The most important thing is to pay attention to the use of ankles and soles. You should relax your thighs, calves and ankles. You should be natural, you can't use brute force, you can't make full use of the strength of your thighs, and you should pay attention to the cooperation of your thighs, calves and ankles! Always pay attention to whether the sound of each blow is accurate and explosive, not brute force. When the club head touches the drumhead, you can't press it with your feet. You have to close the stick naturally and quickly. And whether the sound is even!
Click the type of exercise.
When I practice clicking, I will get used to using pressure to exercise my weak limbs, such as my left hand or left foot!
RLRL RLRL RLRL RLRL(R is right hand or foot, l is left hand or foot)
This is a simple four-tone click connection. When practicing, we are used to using our right hand as stress. We can start with the right hand and then constantly change the stress position. For example, the first sound is stress at first, then the stress is moved to the second sound, that is, the left hand or foot, and so on!
Example: Rlrl Rlrl Rlrl Rlrl
Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala
Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala
Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala Lala
(Stress in uppercase, light in lowercase)
Other exercises are related to the quartet, and the stress remains the same! Like triplets!
Example: Rlr Lrl Rlr Lrl
rLr lRl rLr Lrl
rlR lrL rlR lrL
The practice of pentatonic scale and pentatonic scale is the same! And so on!
This kind of exercise can not only develop your limbs to the maximum extent, but also strengthen the coordination ability between limbs and brain, which is very helpful for the practice of separating hands and feet in the future!
When practicing, you must pay great attention to your playing posture and listen to the sound you make every time. When there are problems and mistakes, you must solve and correct them in time, otherwise once you develop bad habits, it will have a great and serious impact on your future practice!
Click is the basic skill of all basic skills. If you don't practice well, it will directly affect the practice of other basic skills! Just because this doesn't mean that clicking can't be practiced at the same time as other forms of basic skills!
When it comes to double-clicking, the average beginner's reaction is love and fear. Love is its ease of use, and fear is the difficulty of overcoming skills. Because the skill of double-click can make up for the lack of click speed, scrolling is also based on the basic skills and concepts of double-click. Please refer to down &; The skill of Up.
It should be a relatively simple method to practice double-clicking based on the technical concept of Down.Up. Generally speaking, up is difficult to exert its strength when used independently, which means it is difficult to have a loud effect. However, when Down and Up are combined, Up can easily play the volume you want.
Usually, when beginners begin to learn to double-click, they just use the elasticity of the drum skin to make the double-click effect. However, this method is usually unclear in terms of sound clarity and poor in stability. This is a local steelmaking method.
However, combine it. Up and up technology not only has good control, but also can make two very equal points. At the beginning of practice, take the above spectrum example as the initial practice method. At the beginning of this exercise, try to focus on the second point, because generally speaking, the first point can usually be played easily with a heavy voice. The second point is usually weak, so train the strength of the second point first, and then! ! It's easier to play balanced and equal double-click skills. The following exercise is based on the quartet. By double-clicking, try to make a smooth sound effect with the quartet.
Next, I'll introduce some Paradiddle practice methods combining single-click and double-click techniques for your reference. This method of attack is usually used for marching bands. It is rarely used in classical fighting. However, it can still be used in some cases, especially when attacking a whole set of integrated instruments. But from my personal point of view, this approach can take into account many aspects. Not only can you practice the compound practice of double-clicking and single-clicking, but you can also get used to it quickly if you have the opportunity to use Paradiddle in the future.
In the above exercises, the metronome is also used to speed up the practice from slow to fast. It is best to practice as soon as possible. Pay attention to the combination of hand bowl and fingers when practicing.
The two most important concepts that affect the inertia between the hand and the drum stick are the control of the drum stick and the waving of the drum stick.
In terms of control: there are three main ways to hold the lever.
1. Straight wrist:
Hold the drum stick with your thumb, forefinger and middle finger at one third of the drum stick. The ring finger and the little finger are naturally close together and gently attached to the back, which does not affect the movement of the cane. Keep your palms opposite, pay attention to the symmetry and balance of your hands, and the hitting point of the drum stick should be relatively concentrated. Timpani and trapezoidal xylophone are basically played in this way.
2. Standard type:
The right hand is straight, and the left hand grips about one-third of the tail end of the drum stick and rests on the joint where the ring finger and the little finger are half held. The forefinger and middle finger are naturally bent, and the whole hand is half clenched. Palm inward. The thumb of the tiger's mouth holds the stick, and the ring finger and the little finger hold the stick. The two drums are about 90 degrees. Hit with the left hand with a rotating force. This wrist technique is mainly used to play snare drum Jr. and jazz drums.
3. Wrist button:
Holding the stick is almost the same as the straight wrist style, but the hands should be turned inward so that the palms are facing down, and the two drums are concentrated on the hitting point, and the two sticks are at an angle of about 90 degrees. This wrist technique is used in the chamber performances of xylophone, piano, jazz drum and George W. snare drum.
★ No matter how to control the drum stick, you must use your arms, wrists and fingers flexibly, especially your wrists and fingers, so that your hands and the drum stick can be integrated, and then you can move the drum stick naturally and easily.
In the aspect of waving, there are two common styles, one is gladstone style, and the other is Moeller style.
1.GRADSTONE style:
The key to this swing mode of the drum stick is to use the natural rotation center and the natural inertia of the drum stick under the action of gravity. The drum stick is naturally lifted from one or two inches above the drum surface, and the center of gravity of the stick is located at the center of rotation, thus pulling the stick up. When the hand is raised to ear level, the center of rotation is like the shaft of a stick. The drum stick stops here, as if it were thrown backwards and hung on the back side. The movement process is naturally relaxed, and the natural rotation and waving inertia movement are used. Like the axis of a bar. When swinging, the drum stick is hit downward by gravity until it hits the drum surface naturally. The inertia of the rebound acts on the force thrown upward after hitting, and the rotation center is the main axis of the whole action. This can minimize the muscle tension of the arm, improve the average speed, and control the drum stick with the last three fingers to achieve better results. This method can be used in fast and thin hitting points.
2. Mill style:
The key to this swing mode of the drum stick is that the arm drives the wrist, and the wrist drives the drum stick to transmit the force to the tip of the stick wave by wave; It feels like a gray whip. The drum stick is about one or two inches above the drum surface. The arm drives the wrist, and the drum stick moves with it. The wrist is raised to the height of the ear and the tip of the stick is forward. The arm drives the wrist to hit down and transfer the force to the drum stick. After hitting, stop the drum stick to a certain height and control it with your wrist and fingers.
★ The above two swinging modes of the drum stick have different application feelings. GRADSTONE style can make the hitting point of the stick more labor-saving, make a quick and meticulous management, and make the muscles less tense. The movement between fingers matches the natural movement of the drum stick. Moeller's wave-by-wave transmission of force from arm to wrist to drum stick can effectively control the direction of action and is very practical for large-scale action or position change. Arms, wrists, drums and sticks move together.
★ No matter what waving method or stick control method, the ultimate goal is to combine the drums and sticks with both hands without obstacles. In practice, each hitting point starts from a slow speed, so as to realize the drop when controlling the lever. The speed of lifting the stick is related to the speed of swinging the stick, which is quite effective in controlling the volume and changing the hitting point when moving the hitting surface such as drums and cymbals. Practice more, feel the difference between hand and drum stick, and think more about the relationship between finger and muscle control and drum stick, and you will get unexpected gains!
In fact, the word coordination, from another perspective, should also be realized independently.
Therefore, some people say that drumming requires the cooperation of four limbs, but in fact, it means that four limbs can be separated and moved independently.
Only in this way can we play music with random rhythm and improvisation. Play with my heart for my hands,
You can express your thoughts. Therefore, physical coordination and independent practice are very important exercises for drummers.
The following exercise is taken from Allen Dawson's Complete Drummer's Vocabulary.
Wei taught me this exercise method at first. The first thing to prepare is a book called syncopation (by Ted Reed).
This book is full of syncopation exercises, but after Allen Dawson interpreted those exercises in different ways,
Change to forty methods of body coordination exercises, so as long as there is a book syncopation (or apply the same principle to the music score)
It can effectively exercise the coordination of limbs.
Ted Reid's syncopation begins with eight exercises on page 38.
The reason is that there are no consecutive octaves (more than four) when you start practicing.
If you do all the exercises well, you can basically cope with different situations? Independent).
This exercise is also very helpful for reading music!
Let's introduce the first exercise, playing the line with a small drum, and playing all the sounds with a small drum.
Left hand: snare drum Jr. plays all syncopations.
Right hand: keep the jazz beat.
The figure below shows the riding/stepping mode (jazz time) of the swing.
Left foot: Keep the second beat and the fourth beat when stepping on the stirrup.
Right foot: The bass drum keeps the quarter notes soft.
If you write this in synchronization exercises,
Then playing Swing (jazz time) will become
And the whole paragraph becomes the first practice method
Give another example:
