Fujian Medical University, referred to as Fu Medical University, is located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. It is a first-class university and a first-class discipline construction university in Fujian Province, a key construction university in Fujian Province, a pilot university of the "Excellent Doctoral Education and Training Program" project of the Ministry of Education, a scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for international students in China, and a university that implements the innovation and entrepreneurship training program for college students nationwide.
Fujian Medical University was formerly known as Fujian Provincial Medical College founded by 1937. 1939 was renamed Fujian Provincial Medical College, 1949 was renamed Fujian Medical College, and 1969 merged with Fujian College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Medical Department of Huaqiao University to form Fujian Medical University. 1982 was renamed Fujian medical college, and1996 was renamed Fujian medical university in April.
As of May 2022, the school has 49 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including the national and local joint engineering research center for tumor immunology development and the key laboratory of gastrointestinal malignant tumors of the Ministry of Education.
