Tongji University has a long history and an outstanding reputation. It is one of the earliest national universities in China and a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established with Shanghai. After 1 14 years of development, Tongji University has become a comprehensive, research-oriented and international university with distinctive features and great influence at home and abroad, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top universities in China.

At present, Tongji University has 29 professional colleges, 9 affiliated hospitals and 6 affiliated primary and secondary schools. There are four main campuses in siping road, Jiading, Huxi and Hubei, covering an area of 2.55 square kilometers, with a total construction area of 1.83 million square meters, and the library has a total collection of 45 1 10,000 books.
