The Institute for Nationalities affiliated to Hebei Normal University was founded in 1985 and is one of the first Tibetan classes (schools) in China. After three stages: Tibet School affiliated to Hebei Normal University, Nationalities Normal School affiliated to Hebei Normal University and Nationalities College affiliated to Hebei Normal University, it has successively undertaken the tasks of running junior high schools, secondary normal schools, junior colleges and senior high schools in Tibet. At present, the college is based on education aid to Tibet, covering three majors of foreign languages, mathematics and information science, and art in Tibetan high schools in the mainland, and preparatory courses for ethnic minorities in colleges and universities in Hebei Province, and has developed into a college with distinctive ethnic education characteristics.
