Shanghai Theatre Academy is an art college in China that trains performing arts professionals. Its predecessor was Shanghai Experimental Drama School. Founded by famous dramatists Li Jianwu, Huang, Yu 1945 12 1 1949 was renamed Shanghai Theatre Academy, 195 1 was renamed Shanghai Theatre Academy.
1953 Drama Department of Shandong University and Shanghai Xingzhi Art School combined to form the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Drama (independent school, independent organizational system). 1956 officially changed its name to Shanghai Theatre Academy, which belongs to the Ministry of Culture and became a national key art college.
In 2002, the School of Performing Arts of Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Opera School and Shanghai Dance School merged, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy became a comprehensive art school integrating drama, opera, dance, film and television, and its educational levels ranged from secondary schools and undergraduate courses to master's and doctor's degrees.

By March 2022, the school has more than 500 faculty members, including more than 300 full-time teachers, more than 2,000 undergraduates and more than 700 graduate students. The school has a 17 undergraduate major.
In 20 19, the school's performance, drama, film and television literature and drama, and film and television art design were selected as national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, and radio and television directors and drama and film and television directors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites.
