Huaxi University Town is located between Huaxi District of Guiyang City and its south, Changshun County of Qiannan Prefecture and Pingba County of Anshun City. On October 28th, 2009/KLOC-0, the expansion project of Huaxi Campus of Guizhou University with an investment of1400 million was officially started, which marked the official start of the construction of Guizhou University Town. It is planned to build a "tree-lined, elegant garden" university town in Guizhou in about five years. By March 20 12, Guizhou Normal University, Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, Guiyang Medical College, Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guizhou Vocational and Technical College of Light Industry had successively settled in the university town ahead of schedule. Guizhou minzu university held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus on February 27th, 20th/KLOC-0th/2nd. It is planned that the first batch of students will settle in the new campus one year later. It is estimated that in five to 10 years, the Guizhou University Town, which covers an area of nearly 12 square kilometers and an area of about17,500 mu (including the old campus of Guizhou University and guizhou minzu university in the north), will be fully built with 10 colleges and universities and more than 200,000 permanent teachers and students.
