Scholarship is to show the concern of the party and the government for students from poor families in ordinary undergraduate colleges, higher vocational colleges and junior colleges. Funded jointly by the central and local governments, it is used to subsidize full-time students from poor families in ordinary undergraduate colleges (including higher vocational colleges and second bachelor's degrees).
Starting from the fall semester of 20 10, the central and local governments set up state grants to help students from poor families in ordinary high schools, accounting for about 20% of the total number of ordinary high school students in China, including 10% in the eastern region, 20% in the central region and 30% in the western region. According to the actual situation, all localities can appropriately tilt to rural areas, poverty-stricken areas and ethnic minority areas when determining the funded areas.
