The origin of China University is Beiyang University Hall. 1895, after the fiasco of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 in China, the call for political reform broke out. 10 On June 2nd, Emperor Guangxu approved the establishment of Tianjin Beiyang Western School, with Sheng Xuanhuai as the first inspector. The school is located in the former site of Dayingmen Bowen College on the Yun Bei River in Tianjin. The transformation of Tianjin Chinese and Western School into Beiyang University Hall marked the birth of the first university in modern China.
