Southeastern oklahoma state university is a public university in Durant, Oklahoma with 4,000 undergraduates. Originally established in 1909, the college is a southeast normal school under the Oklahoma legislature. The school initially focused on teacher training. Several years later, the school expanded many disciplines and was registered as a state university in 1974. Great changes have taken place in the college, and many new dormitory buildings are under construction, including a brand-new student union square and the recently renovated Pual Laird football field. The current president of southeastern oklahoma state university is Mr. glen johnson, former Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. The current president of the student union is Michael J. Davis.
