Jiangxi University of Science and Technology is a university jointly established by Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Education. Baosteel Education Award judges colleges and universities; It is an important talent training and scientific research base for nonferrous metal industry and steel industry in China, and was selected as the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions (Phase II).
The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Jiangxi Institute of Metallurgy. 1988 was renamed Southern Institute of Metallurgy, and in 2004 it was renamed Jiangxi University of Science and Technology. The school once belonged to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation. On April 20 17, the Ministry of Education decided that Central South University would provide counterpart support to Jiangxi University of Science and Technology.
The school is located in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. As of March 20 18, the school has five campuses in Ganzhou and Nanchang, covering an area of more than 3,700 mu. There are 16 colleges and 18 institutes; There are 1 national special doctoral programs, 2 first-class doctoral programs, 22 first-class master programs, 6 professional degree programs and 68 undergraduate programs. There are more than 2,000 faculty members, 22,000 full-time undergraduates and 4,000 full-time graduate students.
