In 2022, the school plans to recruit 2278 full-time graduate students. The total number of applicants for each major is the sum of the number of applicants for the national unified examination (hereinafter referred to as "the number of applicants for the unified examination"), the number of applicants for the recommended exemption examination (hereinafter referred to as "the number of applicants for the exemption examination") and the number of applicants for the single examination (hereinafter referred to as "the number of applicants for the single examination").

Southwest University of Political Science and Law is located in Chongqing, a famous historical and cultural city and the only municipality directly under the central government in the central and western regions. It is the earliest institution of higher learning in politics and law in New China. After the reform and opening up, the Ministry of Education and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government established the first batch of colleges and universities, the first batch of national outstanding legal talents education and training bases, the training institutions entrusted by the China Municipal Government for overseas students' scholarships, and the Engineering University for Basic Capacity Building in the Midwest universities.
