The predecessor of Shandong University was 190 1, the official Shandong University Hall founded in Jinan in the 27th year of Guangxu reign. 1932, the Executive Yuan decided to change the National Qingdao University into the National Shandong University and appointed Zhao Taimou (Zhao Qi) as the president. 1In August, 945, Shandong Anti-Japanese People's Government established Shandong University in Linyi (called Linyi Shandong University to distinguish it from the national Shandong University), and set up a preparatory department to recruit intellectual youth and conduct ideological and political education.

Shandong University is one of the most comprehensive universities in China and a representative of comprehensive universities.
