Guangzhou Institute of Software (formerly South China Institute of Software, Guangzhou University) was established in 2002, and began to implement undergraduate education in 2006. Its predecessor was South China Software College of Guangzhou University. In February 2020, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the consent of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, it was transformed into Guangzhou Institute of Software, referred to as "Guangsoft".
