As the main inheritor and disseminator of Confucianism, Ceng Zi occupies an important position in Confucian culture. His works include Confucian classics such as The Great Learning and The Book of Filial Piety, and later Confucianism honored him as a "saint".

Ceng Zi believes that only when people know what they should achieve can they make up their minds to continue. Therefore, he systematically summarized the pre-Qin Confucian ethical and political thoughts in "University", aiming at promoting people's aboveboard moral quality and making people reach the most perfect state.

"University" is "the gateway for beginners to enter Germany". The first chapter puts forward three programs: respecting things, knowing and doing, sincerity, integrity, self-cultivation, keeping the family in order, governing the country and leveling the world. Eight items are the way to realize the three programs. Among these eight items, "self-cultivation" is the most fundamental and decisive step. The next ten chapters make it clear that morality, being close to the people, stopping at perfection, empathy, knowledge, honesty, integrity, self-cultivation, keeping the family in order and governing the country.

Daxue was honored as a classic in the Tang Dynasty, and was listed as one of the Thirteen Classics after the Southern Song Dynasty. The language of The University is simple, profound and far-reaching. As one of the most important Confucian classics in the late ancient China, for two thousand years, countless people with lofty ideals walked into the room and saw the door of Confucianism, which has profound enlightenment on how people behave, do things and achieve their careers.
