Jilin Agricultural University, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province, is a provincial key university in Jilin Province. The Jilin Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly established the university, and was selected as one of the national "Basic Capacity Building Projects of Central and Western Universities" and the Class A construction projects of high-level applied research universities with characteristics in Jilin Province.

The school was formerly an agricultural cadre school founded by the Central Northeast Bureau 1948 in Heilongjiang Province. 1950 was upgraded to Heilongjiang Agricultural College, 1956 was upgraded to Bei 'an Agricultural College, and four-year undergraduate education began.
