The history of the school can be traced back to 1898. 1958 Wuhan institute of iron and steel was established to offer undergraduate education; 65438-0995 Wuhan Institute of Iron and Steel, Wuhan Institute of Architecture and Wuhan Metallurgical Medical College, affiliated to the former Ministry of Metallurgy, merged to form Wuhan University of Metallurgical Technology. From 65438 to 0998, the school implemented the management system of "central and local governments * * *, with the Hubei Provincial People's Government as the main management"; 1999, renamed Wuhan University of Science and Technology.
