The academic certificates issued by Canadian educational institutions are mainly divided into the following three types:
1. certificate
Directly translated as "certificate", almost all colleges and some universities will have certificate-related projects. Mainly a certificate issued by the school, acknowledging that you have completed a certain course or advanced in a very professional category. Take the University of Toronto as an example. Its certificate is generally awarded to students of continuing education colleges.
This kind of course is very professional and takes a relatively short time to complete. Usually to learn a professional skill or as an advanced course. In Ontario, the certificates of high school and above mainly include junior college certificates and graduate certificates (or what some colleges call graduate certificates). The application for postgraduate certificate requires a university degree diploma or certificate.
Let me remind you here that the postgraduate certificate (or postgraduate certificate) is not a postgraduate degree, but a certificate at the postgraduate stage or post-university stage. It takes a short time and focuses more on vocational skills training. Master's degree is our traditional postgraduate degree, which requires higher academic qualifications and pays more attention to the cultivation of research-oriented talents.
2. Official documents
Diplomas are similar to certificates, but usually go deeper. It's usually a two-year course. All colleges and most universities will set up diploma programs. The duration of a project is usually between a certificate and a degree. You can't blindly equate it with a specialist. Diplomas in Ontario are divided into general diplomas and advanced diploma courses. A general diploma requires at least four semesters (or two years) of study, while an advanced diploma requires six semesters (or three years) of study. Many groups who want to immigrate through studying abroad are generally more inclined to read diplomas and get maple leaf cards.
Postgraduate diplomas are referred to as research papers for short, and English is a postgraduate certificate or diploma. After graduation, you only get a diploma, not a degree.
Diploma time is short and tuition is low. Because it is well connected with the actual social work, it will be easier to get a job after graduation.
3. Degree
This is what we often call "degree". There are degree programs in colleges and universities in Canada. Generally, it includes three degrees: bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree. Colleges generally only offer bachelor's degrees (bachelor's degrees), while universities offer all three degrees. We often hear people say honorary degrees. Compared with an ordinary bachelor's degree, it is usually necessary to take extra credits or courses, which is the condition for applying for a master's degree (graduate student). Please note here that under normal circumstances, you can't apply for graduate students after studying for three years as an undergraduate.
Ordinary bachelor or degree. The three-year academic system is also a bachelor's degree, but only a few universities accept students with ordinary bachelor's degrees to apply for their graduate students.
Bachelor or degree with honors. The academic system is 4 years, one year more than the ordinary undergraduate course. If you want to continue your graduate studies, it is recommended to choose an honorary bachelor's degree.
Degrees are generally obtained after graduation with diplomas and degree certificates, which are generally issued by universities.
University stage
Canada is usually called a junior college or an undergraduate course. Is the so-called university study. The education vouchers available include
Certificate: college certificate (university certificate)
Diploma: (undergraduate) diploma, advanced diploma
Degree: bachelor's degree, honorary bachelor's degree
Postgraduate stage
Certificate: postgraduate certificate (or postgraduate certificate) This is what we call a postgraduate diploma on the Internet.
Diploma: (Postgraduate) diploma
Degree: Master, Doctor.

I. Academic achievements
Undergraduate enrollment, general colleges and universities only need students' GPA to reach above 3.0, and those with a ranking below 10 will be higher, requiring about 3.5 points. In addition, different majors may have special requirements for single subjects.
A master's degree requires you to have a professional and related learning background, and you will be more inclined to admit straight students. Generally, your GPA score needs to be above 3.5, and you need to show your academic achievements, papers or journal articles.
Second, language achievement.
The basic requirement announced at present is that IELTS should be between 6.0 and 6.5. If you apply for an institution, an IELTS score of 5.5 is enough, but for international students, you still have to improve your score as much as possible to have an advantage.
And everyone should know that the requirements of good universities are generally higher than the average standard, especially the popular majors. With more people signing up, the requirements will naturally increase. However, everyone has the opportunity to apply for double admission, and there is no way out.
Third, the application materials
The scores submitted by the school are convenient for the school to verify, and they need to be notarized before they can be tested; I also need to show my certificates, diplomas, degree certificates or studying certificates, which also need notarization to ensure that my education is qualified.
IELTS transcripts should also be prepared, and various documents including GRE/GMAT, PS and CV should also be prepared, and artists should also prepare their works separately.
Fourth, the timing.
The school curriculum is generally arranged for four months in one semester, so there are three semesters in a year, and there will be three application opportunities every year. However, enrollment in September is still the first choice for domestic students, and all schools will open their applications at this stage.
The undergraduate application period is about 3-4 months, and the master application period is about 4-6 months. However, everyone needs time to prepare. Generally, they will start collecting and sorting out information about schools and majors one year in advance, which can effectively improve the success rate.

First, the switching system
1. Canadian study abroad exchange system:
China is a country with strict foreign exchange control. Except for the business needs of foreign trade and foreign-funded enterprises, residents are not allowed to exchange RMB from banks for other foreign exchange at will. If you want to study abroad, travel, visit relatives, etc. You can apply for foreign exchange from the four major local banks.
2. Canada study exchange place:
Residents who use foreign exchange for studying abroad may apply to the local foreign exchange administration department. Then, with the approval of SAFE, the RMB will be converted into foreign currency at the relevant local bank.
Note: China Bank is the most convenient bank to exchange foreign currency among all banks, with the lowest price difference and the largest currency exchange volume. A large number of exchanges need to be made in advance.
Because you need to bring your ID card to exchange foreign currency, you can apply for a maximum of $50,000 per ID card, or other foreign currencies equivalent to $50,000. If you change more than $50,000, you need to apply to the bank. You can also apply for another $50,000 with your family ID card.
The four major banks of industry, agriculture, China and construction can handle it, but it is far less rapid than Bank of China. China Merchants Bank and Bank of Communications can also handle it. If the credit cards of China Merchants Bank and Bank of Communications have a limit of RMB 30,000, there will be equivalent US dollars to be withdrawn, that is, US$ 30,000 /6. 12 = 4902.
3. Canada study abroad exchange program:
First of all, bring your passport, admission notice, ID card and other supporting materials to the local foreign exchange administration (the address is the same as China People's Bank) for remittance; Then, with the foreign exchange approval certificate from the SAFE, exchange money at the personal business department of the local bank. Generally, the same amount of RMB is deposited in the bank account first, and then transferred to the bank for foreign exchange. The specific process will be notified by the bank.
Two. Documents required for Canadian exchange
My valid passport and visa
My ID card and household registration book. If an agent is represented by another person, in addition to the above-mentioned documents, the agent shall also provide his own identity documents.
My original admission notice and payment notice.
Remit the application form at the exchange window and fill it out on the spot (in duplicate)
Pay RMB and all necessary documents, and exchange foreign exchange.
All the above documents and materials are in duplicate (original and photocopy), and an application is made to the designated foreign exchange bank or foreign exchange bureau (hereinafter referred to as the "foreign exchange bureau") authorized by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange and its branches where the account is located.
Third, understand the methods of purchasing foreign exchange in Canada:
1, with my passport and visa, go to the bank with the right to sell foreign exchange where the account is located, and consult the local bank for specific operation procedures; You can also purchase foreign exchange directly from Bank of China Beijing Branch;
2. Students who study abroad at their own expense need to purchase foreign exchange according to the tuition fee on the admission notice, but the allowed amount of foreign exchange purchase is equivalent to 20,000 US dollars;
If you need to buy foreign exchange, please do it before leaving the country.
Four main remittance methods of major domestic banks:
1. telegraphic transfer
Wire transfer is fast and can be directly remitted to the payee's account, but it is also the most expensive remittance method. The premise of using telegraphic transfer is that you must have a bank account in the UK. Generally, the payee's name, account number, address, name and address of the payee bank must be provided in English.
2. Airline remittance
The handling fee for remittance is cheaper than that for telegraphic transfer, and it is much safer for the buyer to leave the country by mail or with bills. After arriving in the UK, choose a suitable bank as soon as possible, open a student account, deposit the draft in the bank, and the bank will cash it directly or collect it. It is a good choice to pay tuition by draft. Compared with telegraphic transfer, remittance by draft is slower, but it can save a telecommunication fee. However, if the bill is not taken out of the country by myself and needs to be mailed, it will lead to mailing costs and risks.
3. International Debit Card
International debit cards have strong versatility and high security, which can avoid the trouble of carrying cash. When you swipe your card, you can directly deduct it from your deposit account and swipe as much money as you have. Nowadays, general international debit cards have the functions of main card and auxiliary card. International students only need to bring a supplementary card, and their parents can use the main card to handle deposit business at branches of domestic banks at any time, while international students only need to pay a small handling fee when withdrawing money from ATMs abroad. However, the international debit cards of general banks are mainly US dollar cards, and it is necessary to pay exchange fees to withdraw the currency of the current country from ATMs outside the US dollar zone.
4. International credit cards
Foreign credit cards are relatively mature, ranging from shopping malls to convenience stores. Therefore, it is also a good choice for international students to use international credit cards. At present, many domestic banks offer international credit card business with different credit lines. If money is deposited in the card, you can spend or withdraw money directly abroad. There is no handling fee for direct consumption with international cards, but a certain percentage of handling fee is required for overseas cash withdrawal.
