Scientific research institutions and textile schools engage in scientific research and teaching. Donghua University Textile College was established in July, 1996. Its predecessor was the Textile Department of Donghua University (formerly East China Textile Institute of Technology), which was established in June, 195 1. It is a major department with a solid discipline foundation and embodies the traditional textile characteristics of Donghua University.
