Beijing Institute of Technology, formerly known as the Academy of Natural Sciences, was founded in Yan 'an 1940. After the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region Industrial School and North China University Engineering College were successfully established, they were set up in Beijing on 1949, taking over the headquarters of Sino-French University and the three departments of mathematical physics and chemistry. 1952 was named Beijing Institute of Technology, and 1988 was renamed Beijing Institute of Technology.
As of June 2022, the school has 2 1 professional colleges, 9 academies of science and 8 other teaching and research institutions, including the Institute of Frontier Interdisciplinary Science, the Institute of Advanced Structural Technology and the National Institute of Security and Development.
There are 77 undergraduate majors, including aircraft design and engineering, aircraft power engineering, aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, vehicle engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, energy and power engineering, intelligent manufacturing engineering and its automation.
