In Guangzhou, China Mobile and China Telecom's 4G network coverage is very good, and China Telecom's 4G speed is also the fastest we have tested, but unfortunately, China Telecom only provides data services without voice services. This week, we conducted a 4G network test underground. We tested the network coverage and network quality of the three major operators of Guangzhou Metro to see if Guangzhou Metro can access the Internet with 4G.
▲ One-day tour of 4G network experience of three major operators: Guangzhou Metro
Many big cities in China have opened subways. In big cities such as Shenzhen and Beijing, subways have 3G network coverage, and many people who have taken the subway in Guangzhou will feel this way. If you get on the subway, don't surf the internet. Guangzhou Metro 1 Line completed and opened to traffic 1997. Up to now, there are 7 subway lines in Guangzhou, which basically cover all major areas in Guangzhou. However, due to the early completion of some subway lines, mobile network equipment is still early equipment. Although some lines have signals, the data service can't keep up, and the mobile network equipment of these subway lines has not been updated due to historical reasons.
With the continuous opening of the new subway line in Guangzhou in recent years, 3G network coverage has begun on the new subway line. Guangzhou's earliest subway line covered by Unicom's 3G network was Line 3, and then Line 2, Line 8 and other lines began to upgrade their networks. With 3G network coverage, the subway can also access the Internet at high speed. At present, the 4G networks of the three major operators have begun to have good coverage on the ground, and there are 4G signals in urban areas and even suburbs. What is the situation of Guangzhou subway?
How to test:
When we go to various subway lines in Guangzhou, we must first check whether there is a 4G signal. If there is a 4G signal, a theoretical test of network speed should be conducted to see the speed of the 4G network. If there is no 4G network, we should test the speed of the highest speed network standard at our location. In order to test the fairness, we use the cool mobile phone to test. We use Coolpad 8705 which supports mobile 4G network, Coolpad S6 which supports telecom 4G network, and Coolpad K 1 which supports Unicom 4G.
▲ Cool 8705, Cool K 1, Cool S6.
We used China Mobile's 4G Internet access package, China Telecom's six-month 6GB data card and China Unicom's 4G/3G integrated package for testing, and all the number cards were purchased by ourselves, without using the operator's test number card.
▲ Guangzhou Metro
This test covers seven subway lines in Guangzhou, including 1 line, line 2, line 3, line 4, line 5, line 6 and line 8, to test the network speed of the three major subway operators.
1 line: Mobile Unicom can only access the Internet at 2G.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 65438 +0
Guangzhou Metro 1 line runs through the old city of Guangzhou and connects Shangxiajiu, Beijing Road, Tianhe City and other business districts. Opening 1997 is the first subway line in Guangzhou.
▲ Mobile 2G speed
China Mobile has only 2G signal on the subway 1 line, which is not fast, only 0. 15Mbps. Brush Weibo or access WeChat. If you open the map, you still have to wait. The whole subway 1 line is basically like this.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
The only subway 1 line with 3G signal is China Telecom, with a downlink speed of 2.53Mbps and an uplink speed of 0.27Mbps, which is good. All lines 1 have 3G signals.
▲ Unicom 2G speed
China Unicom only has a 2G signal on the subway 1 line, but the speed is relatively slow, and even some sections cannot access the Internet. The signal difference of subway 1 Line Unicom Internet access.
Line 2: Unicom 3G has been fully covered.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 2
Metro Line 2 is an important passenger dedicated line connecting Guangzhou South Railway Station and Guangzhou Railway Station, and can be transferred to the airport with Line 3. It is also the first subway connecting Hebei and Henan in Guangzhou. It was opened in June 2003, and the original Line 2 was later split into the current Line 2 and Line 8.
▲ Mobile 2G speed
Metro Line 2 has only 2G signal, which is not fast, but it is still relatively stable, and some online operations that require a small amount of data can still be carried out.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
China Telecom's CDMA network also has 3G signals on Metro Line 2, with a speed of about 2Mbps, which is very stable and can be used for the operation of big data traffic.
▲ Unicom 3G speed
Unicom has a 3G signal on Metro Line 2, and the speed is as high as 10Mbps, which is very fast, just like the ground situation, but there is no Unicom's 4G signal on Line 2.
Line 3: The earliest line covering 3G.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 3
Guangzhou Metro Line 3 was opened in June 5438+February 2005. It has two feeder lines, from Panyu Square to Tianhe Bus Terminal and from Tiyu West Road to Baiyun Airport. It is an important subway line from Panyu to the urban area, the only subway line from the urban area to the airport, and the most criticized subway line by Guangzhou citizens. Because the huge passenger flow was not considered at the beginning of the opening, only three carriages were provided, and later it was increased to six carriages.
▲ Mobile 3G speed
The mobile of Line 3 is mainly based on 2G signals, and some sections will have 3G signals, but the speed is not fast. In the case of 3G signal, we measure that the downlink is only 0.43Mbps.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
Telecom still has 3G signal in Metro Line 3, but the speed of 3G in Metro Line 3 is not ideal, with a speed of only 0.28Mbps, which is slower than that of mobile 3G.
▲ Unicom 3G speed
Line 3 is the first subway line to open Unicom's 3G network. We measured that the downlink speed of Unicom 3G on Line 3 is 8.92Mbps, which is still very fast. However, before, we found that only foreign brands such as Samsung, Apple and HTC or some domestic mobile phones with Samsung solutions have 3G signals, while domestic brands such as vivo and Gionee only have 2G signals. What is the reason? This situation has improved recently.
Line 4: Only Telecom 3G.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 4
Guangzhou Metro Line 4 was opened in 2009, connecting Guangzhou University Town and Nansha District of Panyu. It is the only subway line from University Town and Nansha to downtown.
▲ Mobile 2G cannot access the Internet.
Although the mobile signal of Metro Line 4 is very good, it is difficult to access the Internet by using the 2G network, or there is no signal after accessing the Internet within a certain interval.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
Telecom Line 3 also has a 3G signal, with a downlink speed of 0.9Mbps. Although it is not fast, it can still access the Internet, at least better than China Mobile and China Unicom.
▲ Unicom 3G speed
Unicom has only 2G signal on Metro Line 4, which is slower, but better than the mobile one, so it can't get online at all, and it will be disconnected when running in some sections.
Line 5: There is still no Unicom 3G.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 5
Guangzhou Metro Line 5, which was not opened in 2009, is an east-west subway line, which runs through the whole urban area of Guangzhou, from the pit where Guangzhou meets the Buddha to Wenchong in the east of Guangzhou.
▲ Mobile 2G speed
Metro Line 5 only has a mobile 2G signal, which is very slow and unstable, and some sections will be disconnected from the Internet.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
Telecom has a 3G signal on Metro Line 5, and the downlink speed exceeds 2Mbps, which is quite good. It is also the only operator of Metro Line 5 with 3G signal.
▲ Unicom 2G speed
Unicom has only 2G signal on Metro Line 5, which is relatively slow, but there is no disconnection, and the network is relatively stable.
Line 6: 4G network coverage
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 6
Metro Line 6 was opened in February, 20 13, from Zhou Jinshan in the west of Guangzhou to Changban Village in the east of Guangzhou, passing through Beijing Road Business Circle, and connecting several subway lines in the urban area in series. Because it is a newly opened line, it is also the only subway line with 4G coverage.
▲ Mobile 4G speed
There is a mobile 4G signal in the underground section of Metro Line 6, with a downlink speed of 35Mbps and an uplink speed of 2.72Mbps, which is still very fast, basically the same as the ground speed.
▲ Telecom 4G speed
Telecom also has 4G network coverage, which is faster than mobile, with 49Mbps downlink and 13Mbps uplink. The speed is the same as the ground, and it is also the fastest 4G network we have ever tested.
▲ Unicom 3G speed
Unicom Line 6 has no 4G signal, only 3G signal, and the downlink speed is close to 4Mbps, which is still acceptable. It is expected that Unicom 4G will also enter Line 6 in the future.
Line 8: Mobile is not 3G yet.
▲ Guangzhou Metro Line 8
Guangzhou Metro Line 8 is a separate line from the original Line 2 and will continue to extend northward in the future. The network situation of Line 8 is basically the same as that of Line 2.
▲ Mobile 2G speed
Mobile Line 8 has only 2G signal, which is not fast, but it is stable. There is no lack of internet access, and the network situation is satisfactory.
▲ Telecom 3G speed
Telecom has a 3G signal on Metro Line 6, and the downlink speed of the network is 1.08Mbps, which is not very high, but at least it is a 3G signal.
▲ Unicom 3G speed
Unicom has a 3G signal on Metro Line 8, with a downlink speed of 7Mbps, which is faster than telecom. Metro Line 8 Unicom 3G coverage is still relatively good.
Summary: Guangzhou subway network is weak.
After our previous tests, we found that the current network situation of Guangzhou Metro is not optimistic. At present, only Line 6 has 4G signals, and Unicom and Mobile 3G signals have not completely covered all lines of Guangzhou Metro. Only 3G can provide better coverage, so it is not so easy for Guangzhou residents to surf the Internet by subway.
▲ Guangzhou Metro
As an important means of transportation in Guangzhou, the subway has hundreds of thousands of passengers every day. Many office workers surf the Internet, watch Weibo and send WeChat on the subway during commuting hours. However, some lines of Guangzhou Metro can't guarantee even the most basic 2G network data, which is really puzzling. Is it true that China Mobile Unicom engages in ground network construction instead of subway network? Perhaps there is an unknown interest relationship between subway companies and operators.
▲ 4G speed in the subway
Now that the 4G network has just started, we can see that Guangzhou Metro Line 6 has been covered by the 4G network, which may be a good start. In the future, we hope that the 4G signals of the three major operators can cover more subway lines, so that more citizens can enjoy the high-speed network on the subway.
