Unnc, approved by the Ministry of Education of China, was jointly founded by Nottingham University and Zhejiang Wanli College. It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative university with independent legal personality and independent campus in China, and it has introduced high-quality teaching resources from world-class universities. Professor Yang, an academician of China Academy of Sciences and former president of Fudan University, is the dean of the college, and Professor Nicole Myers is the executive dean.

The school is located in Ningbo University Park, covering an area of 887 mu, with a building area of more than 200,000 square meters. By 20 15, there have been more than 6,000 students and more than 600 faculty members from more than 70 countries and regions in the world. The school recruits students from 28 provinces and cities across the country through the college entrance examination, requiring candidates to score above the first batch of admission scores.

By the end of 20 15, the school had established three schools, namely School of Social Sciences, School of Humanities Education and Institute of Technology, with the following departments: Nottingham University Business School, Department of International Exchange, Department of International Affairs and International Relations, Department of English, Department of Economics, Department of Education, Department of Computer Science and Department of Engineering.
