Qinghai University for Nationalities, located in Xining City, Qinghai Province, is the earliest university established on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, one of the earliest universities for nationalities established in New China, the first unit in China to award master's degrees, and the university established by the Qinghai Provincial People's Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, which was selected as the national central and western university basic capacity building project, the national college students' cultural quality education base and the national new engineering research and practice project.
