Nanjing Normal University is a national "double-class" construction university and a high-level university construction university in Jiangsu Province. The main source of the school can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School founded in 1902, which is one of the birthplaces of higher normal education in China.
Nanjing Normal University has three campuses: Xianlin, Suiyuan and Zijin. Suiyuan Campus has the reputation of "the most beautiful campus in the East". The school covers an area of 2 179633 square meters, and the total construction area of existing school buildings is 966.808+09 square meters. There are 28 secondary colleges and 2 independent colleges.

Nanjing Normal University gives full play to the leading role of discipline construction. At present, there are "double first-class" national construction disciplines (geography) 1, 6 national key disciplines, 3 national key (cultivation) disciplines, 14 dominant disciplines in Jiangsu universities, and 9 key disciplines in the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" of Jiangsu Province. Marxism College was selected as the third batch of national key horse colleges.

China's language and literature, foreign language and literature, geography and fine arts were rated as A- level, while engineering, chemistry, botany and zoology, agricultural science, materials science, earth science, environmental science/ecology, mathematics, social science and computer science 10 ranked among the top in ESI10% in the world.
