The school was founded in 1907 by Mr. Chen, a Buddhist teacher in Qing Dynasty. After several adjustments and mergers, South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Fujian Christian University, Fujian Provincial Teachers College and other units established Fujian Teachers College on 1953, and 1972 changed its name to Fujian Normal University, which is still in use today.

The cooperative research project of doctoral students abroad aims to continuously improve the research level of doctoral dissertations and the quality of doctoral students' training by increasing the funds for international academic exchanges of doctoral students.
1. Application time: mid-March and mid-September every year, with a cycle of 6- 12 months.
2. Forms of communication: academic research and doctoral thesis research.
3. Funding: the school contributes 60,000 yuan/person and the tutor is not less than 30,000 yuan/person.
4. Project requirements:
1) The foreign language level meets the language requirements for overseas communication.
2) Full-time doctoral students;
3) Does not include those who are studying abroad and have enjoyed the national study abroad fund or other public subsidies.
5. Application institutions: recommended by the tutor, according to the needs of professional and dissertation research, apply for well-known institutions in developed countries and regions (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).
