Universities (institutions of higher education)

University (Latin: UNIVERSITAS) generally refers to a school that implements higher education, and refers to a higher education institution that provides teaching and research conditions and authorizes the award of degrees, including comprehensive universities, colleges, higher vocational colleges and other schools.

The word "university" comes from the Latin word "UNIVERSITAS", which roughly means "the community of teachers and scholars".

The teaching level of universities is usually divided into two types, namely, graduate students and undergraduate colleges; Among them, graduate students include master students and doctoral students, and the college is divided into undergraduate and junior college. Teaching methods are mainly divided into full-time and part-time.

As of May 20 15, there were 2,845 institutions of higher learning in China and Chinese mainland, including 2,553 ordinary institutions of higher learning (including 447 private colleges, 275 independent colleges and 7 Chinese-foreign cooperative schools) and 292 adult institutions of higher learning.
