Northwest University, referred to as "Xida University", is located in Xi City, Shaanxi Province. It is a comprehensive national key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, a national "double first-class" construction university and a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university.

By the end of 2020, Northwest University Library has accumulated more than 3.24 million paper books, 2.77 million electronic books, 820,000 kinds of electronic periodicals, 258 databases, 8.08 million electronic dissertations and 60,000 hours of audio and video.
At present, a document resource guarantee system has been established, and traditional paper resources coexist and complement electronic resources such as electronic journals, electronic books, dissertations, abstract indexes, CDs, multimedia and videos.
Among the characteristic collections, the collection of 6.5438+0.6 million thread-bound ancient books is unique in northwest China, which has high cultural relics value and academic research value. It is a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation and was named as a national key ancient book protection unit by the State Council. The collection includes Japanese and Korean editions, as well as China's block prints of past dynasties.
The contents include Dunhuang Buddhist scriptures, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing editions, Ming and Qing manuscripts, etc. The 460 precious ancient books that have been confirmed can be called treasures in the collection. 25 ancient books were selected into the national precious ancient books list. There are also Chinese and foreign periodicals and newspapers collected continuously for more than 30 years, as well as a full set of Shaanxi local chronicles and a large number of Taiwan Province local chronicles.
