Located in Beijing, Beijing University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary municipal key university focusing on engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and teaching. It is a national "double-first-class" construction university, a national "2 1 1 project" construction university, the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and a China government scholarship.

North china university of technology's predecessor was the National Peiping Advanced Industrial Vocational School founded in 1946. After the development stages of Beijing Industrial Iron and Steel School, Beijing Metallurgy College, Shijingshan Metallurgy College, Beijing Iron and Steel School and Beijing Metallurgy Electromechanical College, it was renamed north china university of technology on 1985.

It has been subordinate to the Central Ministry of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation, and has been mainly managed by Beijing since September 1998.

As of April 2022, the school covers an area of 452 mu with a building area of 400,000 square meters. There are 53 undergraduate majors, 1 "National Doctor Training Program for Special Needs", 17 Master-level disciplines, 10 Master-level disciplines.
