The Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of Barcelona are the top competitors in Spain in recent two years, and they are also one of the universities with the highest academic reputation in Spain.

Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) is a Spanish public university founded in 1968. Throughout history, UAM has always been the most famous higher education institution in Spain.

Driven by the decree, the Autonomous University of Madrid was established together with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Bilbao. 5/1968 (Decreto-Ley5/1968) was approved by the Spanish Parliament during Franco's dictatorship. This decree was initiated by Jose Luis Villar Palasi, then Minister of Science and Education, and its purpose was to reorganize the Spanish university system.

The college is divided into: School of Philosophy and Literature, School of Law, School of Economic Science and Business Administration, Academy of Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Psychology, School of Engineering, and School of Teacher Training and Education.

The University of Barcelona is a public university located in Barcelona, Spain. The school has 73 undergraduate majors, 273 graduate majors and 48 doctoral majors, with more than 63,000 students. It is also considered as one of the best universities in Spain.
