Historical Evolution of School of Environment and Municipal Engineering of Lanzhou Jiaotong University
In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the state decided to establish Lanzhou Railway Institute to meet the needs of northwest railway and western economic construction. 1958, according to the order of the Ministry of Railways, the School of Environment and Municipal Engineering transferred all the teachers and equipment of the water supply and drainage teaching and research group of Tangshan Railway Institute to Lanzhou Railway Institute, and established the water supply and drainage specialty of the Department of Railway Architecture.

On 1955, the former Tangshan Railway Institute began to set up water supply and drainage specialty in the Department of Railway Architecture, and opened the first water supply and drainage specialty class (53 water classes). The first undergraduate course of water supply and drainage graduated from 1957 and the second from 1958. 1958 enrolled three-year junior college students majoring in water supply and drainage for the first time after moving to Lanzhou. 196 1 graduated. From 1959 to 1965, Lanzhou Railway Institute trained 293 undergraduates majoring in water supply and drainage.

197 1 In September, Lanzhou Railway Institute set up a separate department of water supply and drainage engineering, which is the first and only training base for water supply and drainage professionals in railway colleges and universities in China, and also the earlier professional department in engineering colleges and universities in China, commonly known as "eight old water supply and drainage schools".

1In August, 1984, the water supply and drainage department of Lanzhou Railway Institute added the specialty of environmental engineering.1In February, 1984, the water supply and drainage department was officially renamed as the Department of Environmental Engineering. Later, specialties such as building environment and equipment engineering and environmental science were added. 200 1 changed its name to College of Environmental Science and Engineering, and in 2003 it was officially named College of Environment and Municipal Engineering of Lanzhou Jiaotong University.

Gu Peixun, Li, Li, Sun, Wang Naizhong, Teng Lanzhen, Yapp Hung Fai, Ou Yangming, Qiu Rongchu, Ye Lingbi, Chang Qing, famous experts, scholars and professors at home and abroad have taught the college successively, which has laid a far-reaching cultural foundation for the good teaching style and study style of the college.
