20 13 School is listed as a provincial key university established by Hebei Provincial People's Government and National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. In 20 17, the school was identified by Hebei province as the project construction unit for awarding doctoral degrees.
Hebei University of Science and Technology was founded in May 1996 by the merger of former Hebei Institute of Light Chemical Industry, hebei mechanical and electrical College and Hebei Textile Workers' College. In 2002, Hebei Textile Industry School merged. From June, 5438 to February, 2003, the Fourth Teachers' Congress of Hebei University of Science and Technology designated 1956, when higher education began, as the school year, and June 6 every year was the anniversary day.
