Yantai University, located in Yantai City, Shandong Province, is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province, a "first-class discipline" construction unit in Shandong Province, a key construction university of a famous school with Shandong characteristics, and a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.
The school was established in July, 1984. Under the care and guidance of Wan Li, former vice premier of the State Council, and Zhang Chengxian, honorary president, and with the special approval of the former State Education Commission, Peking University and Tsinghua University * * * selected teaching, scientific research and management backbones to support the establishment of Tobacco University in the long-term work plan.

Yantai University is located in Yantai, a national historical and cultural city, the best charming city in China, and one of the core areas of Shandong's new and old kinetic energy conversion comprehensive experimental zone. It is a coastal university with the shortest seaport and the longest coastline in China and a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province.
Yantai University was founded in July, 1984. It was directly aided by Peking University and Tsinghua and founded by Weihai people in Yantai.
1990 Peking University and Tsinghua supported the establishment of Yantai University Construction Committee, which regularly studied and guided the teaching, scientific research, discipline construction and reform and development of Yantai University, and formed a long-term assistance mechanism. 1995, the school successfully passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the former State Education Commission.
1998 became a master's degree awarding unit. In 2004, it was rated as "excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level by the Ministry of Education. 20 12 was approved as the first batch of construction units of Shandong famous school project and the project of training doctors with special needs to serve the country. In 20 18 and 20 19, the disciplines of "pharmacy" and "materials science and engineering" were selected as the "first-class disciplines" construction projects in Shandong province.
