The West Coast Campus of China Ocean University is located on the east side of Dazhu Mountain. The planning scope starts from Lidao Road in the north, Zhaike Road in the south, Shanchuan Road in the west and Haijun Road in the east, covering an area of about 2,800 mu.

The new campus has identified five major functional orientations, namely, coastal experimental base and offshore experimental field, engineering technology discipline group and high-tech R&D base, collaborative innovation center for marine development strategy research, integrated development and innovation demonstration zone, and institutional mechanism innovation experimental zone. These five functional orientations have distinct marine characteristics and embody the concept of innovation and development.

On behalf of the school, President Yu Zhigang introduced in detail the overall progress of the construction of first-class universities in the school from three aspects: the progress of the important construction of discipline groups, the completion of the overall construction tasks of the school, and the summary, diagnosis and improvement measures. Subsequently, five discipline groups, namely marine science, aquatic science and technology, marine medicine and food, marine development engineering and environmental protection technology, and marine development, reported the construction progress respectively.
