History of running a school

As early as 16 17, someone petitioned the king of James I to establish a university in Yorkshire. 164 1 year, the second petition failed because of the English civil war in 1642. The third petition of 1647 was submitted to the parliament, but it was rejected by the parliament. 1820, people began to discuss the necessity of establishing universities in northern England.

However, this school was not established in Yorkshire, but another world-famous university, Durham University, which was established in 1832. 1903, F.J. Mumby and the Yorkshire Philosophical Society proposed to establish Victoria University in Yorkshire.

1960s, under the influence of the Robbins Report, the British government decided to democratize British higher education for nearly a hundred years, so a series of famous flat glass universities appeared, such as Warwick University, Bath University, Sussex University, Lancaster University and Surrey University.

York University is one of the new flat glass universities in Britain. When 1963 was founded, only 230 students were enrolled. At that time, the university was composed of three buildings, mainly the King's Manor and the Heslington Hall (the former residence of Thomas irons, secretary of the Northern Committee and seal keeper). From 65438 to 0964, York University began to expand the Heslington campus, forming the main part of today's university.
