Brief introduction of Chongqing University

Chongqing University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a high-level research-oriented comprehensive university focused on the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", and a national "World-class University Construction University (Class A)". The school is located in Chongqing, an important industrial and commercial town in southwest China and the economic center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and is located in Shapingba District, a famous cultural area with rich cultural heritage.

Chongqing University was founded in 1929. As early as 1940s, it became a national comprehensive university with six colleges of arts, science, engineering, business, law and medicine. Ma Yinchu, Li Siguang, He Lv, Feng Jian, Ke Zhao, Wu Mi, Wu Guanzhong and many other famous scholars have taught in this school. 1952 after the adjustment of departments, the school became a multidisciplinary university directly under the Ministry of Education, focusing on engineering, and 1960 was identified as a national key university. Since the reform and opening up, the school has vigorously developed humanities, economy and management, art, education and other disciplines, which has promoted the coordinated development of multiple disciplines. In May 2000, the former Chongqing University, chongqing jianzhu university and Chongqing Institute of Architecture merged into the new Chongqing University, which has always been famous for its advantages in electromechanical, energy, materials, information, biology, economic management and other disciplines at a higher level in the country.

Chongqing University now has 35 colleges, including humanities department, sociology department, science department, engineering department, architecture department and information department, as well as graduate school, continuing education college, online education college and Chongqing University Town Science and Technology College. There are 97 undergraduate majors, covering science, engineering, economics, management, law, literature, history, philosophy, teaching, art and other disciplines 10, with more than 47,000 students, including more than 20,000 master students and doctoral students, more than 25,000 undergraduates and more than 800 foreign students10. There are more than 5,300 on-the-job faculty members, including 7 academicians of China Academy of Engineering, 9 winners of the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents (Ten Thousand Talents Program), 30 winners of various national QR programs (including foreign university programs and youth programs), 10 members of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, 4 chief scientists of "973" and 7 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions at the national level, enjoying the government. There are 3 famous teaching teachers in colleges and universities nationwide, 26 winners of Changjiang Scholar Award Program, 2 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars 16, 2 winners of National "Hundred Million Talents Project", 5 winners of China Youth Science and Technology Award, 2 national "Four Groups" talents, and more than 240 candidates of key talents projects in ministries and cities, with sub-senior majors or above.
