Our school, formerly known as the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, was founded in 195 1, 1979 and was designated as a national key university. In 2004, it was approved as one of the eight universities in China to pilot eight-year medical education. In August, 2004, according to the orders of the State Council and the Central Military Commission, it was transferred to Guangdong Province as a whole and renamed Southern Medical University. At present, there are two campuses, Headquarters and Shunde Campus, covering an area of 2194,400 square meters and a building area of1648,800 square meters. Our school has a strong educational strength. In recent years, our school has been ranked among the top 100 universities in China, and ranked 84th in the 20 10 university ranking published by the University Evaluation Group of China Alumni Association Network.
