Zhejiang University of Technology is neither a 985 engineering university nor a 2 1 1 engineering university. Its main campus is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang province and the first batch of key construction universities in the national "20 1 1 plan". School history

1On July 3, 953, the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central People's Government issued a document, merging the Wenzhou Industrial School in Zhejiang Province, the Chemical Engineering Department of Hangzhou Industrial School in Zhejiang Province and the Chemical Engineering Department of Suzhou Advanced Industrial Technology School in Jiangsu Province, and choosing Hangzhou as the school name. The campus covers an area of 235 mu and has three majors: inorganic technology, analytical chemistry and chemical plant machinery and equipment. After the merger of the three schools, there are 835 students in class 19 (including 6 in Wenzhou). Wenzhou Industrial School in Zhejiang Province was renamed as Wenzhou Branch of Hangzhou Chemical Industry School of the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central People's Government.

On September 1953, the school officially opened on June 10, and the opening ceremony was held on June 14 to celebrate the school anniversary.

1954 During the summer vacation, Wenzhou Branch was cancelled and moved back to Hangzhou.

1958 was listed as a provincial key secondary specialized school.

1963 In July, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology and Hangzhou School of Chemical Technology were both leaders of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. The Ministry of Chemical Industry decided that Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology would move back to Hangzhou, share the school building of Wen Yi Road with Hangzhou Chemical School, and be responsible for leading Hangzhou Chemical School.

1978 May 12, Zhejiang Institute of Technology was established by Zhejiang Provincial Committee. The school site is selected in Wang Chao and Dongxinda, Shangtang Commune, Xihu District (now the urban area), with a planned land area of 430 mu and designed according to the scale of 3,000 students. On July 29th of the same year, the "Leading Group for the Preparation of Zhejiang Institute of Technology" was established. 1979 broke ground on April 4th.

1979, Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Institute of Technology (an engineering college in Ningbo) was established; In the second year of its establishment, Zhejiang Light Industry Department negotiated with Ningbo Municipal Government and decided to set up a provincial technical secondary school focusing on training technical personnel in textile industry.
