Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and Technical College is an ordinary full-time institution of higher learning approved by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to hold higher vocational and technical education. It was established on the basis of Xinjiang Agricultural School, the former national key technical secondary school. It is the only "National Demonstration Vocational and Technical College" and "National Key Vocational and Technical College" supported by the state, and "National Advanced Vocational Education Unit" commended by three ministries and commissions in 2002.
The college is a deputy department-level institution, under the management of Xinjiang Agriculture Department, and the president responsibility system is implemented under the leadership of the Party Committee. At present, there are seven leaders. There are 13 internal organizations, including: Party Office, Organization and Personnel Office, College Office, Finance Office, Trade Union, Security Office, Academic Affairs Office (including Supervision Office), Youth League Committee, Student Office, Admissions Office, Employment Guidance Service Center, Science and Technology Development Office and Logistics Office. The College is located in changji city, an important town in northern Xinjiang, 35km away from Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. Located in the center of the economic belt on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountain, Urumqi, Shihezi, Kuitun and Karamay are the main areas. The college has excellent school-running conditions and trees, covering an area of 600 mu and a construction area of 80,000 square meters. Collection of books/kloc-0.9 million volumes, with 5,000 students, more than 350 registered faculty members and 66 teachers with technical titles above associate senior level. Peking University, China Renmin University, China People's Liberation Army Quartermaster University and Northwest A&F University were invited as visiting professors. The college adheres to the school-running policy of "specialty setting is oriented by professional analysis, training objectives are oriented by professional ability, curriculum design is centered by professional activities, teaching activities are centered by students, and examination and assessment is oriented by objective requirements", and its fundamental task is to cultivate advanced technical application-oriented professionals who meet the needs of production, construction, management and service. It has formed a multi-level, multi-channel and multi-form school-running pattern supplemented by higher vocational education, general junior college, adult undergraduate (junior college), postgraduate education, general secondary school and short-term training. It has also cooperated with Xi Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Normal University, China Agricultural University and Northwest A&F University to build overpasses and through trains for secondary vocational and higher vocational students to further improve their academic qualifications.

Adhering to the road of combining Industry-University-Research, the College established Xinshi Improved Varieties Co., Ltd. and Nong Xin Science and Technology Co., Ltd., which has become the largest hybrid corn seed production base in Xinjiang. The flower project declared by the emerging technology company has been approved by the state, and the largest flower base project in Xinjiang established in cooperation with the Dutch company Jane Devit has been implemented.
The college also has animal embryo transfer center, seed inspection and testing center, embryo transfer center, analysis and testing center and electronic news training center.
