Zhengzhou University is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university, a first-class university construction university, and a "Ministry-province joint construction" university. The school has 12 disciplines, such as philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art, which are developing in a balanced way.
There are three first-class construction disciplines: clinical medicine, materials science and engineering and chemistry. There are six national key disciplines (training): condensed matter physics, material processing engineering, ancient history of China, organic chemistry, chemical technology, pathology and pathophysiology.
Eight disciplines (fields) such as chemistry, materials science, clinical medicine, engineering, pharmacology and toxicology, biology and biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, neuroscience and ethology rank among the top in the world 1%. Among them, the clinical medicine ESI ranked first 1.43‰, and the chemical ESI ranked first 1.39 ‰. ESI academic institutions rank 607th in the world and 39th in national universities.
