The long-term course of running a school has laid a fine tradition of "Tangshan Civil Engineering" with rigorous scholarship and strict requirements. Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge expert, Zhu Kezhen, a phenological expert, Lin Tongyan, an American "Mr. Prestressed Concrete", and Wang Juqian, Zhou Huijiu, Zhang Wei, Liu Huixian, Lin Bingnan, Lin Tonghua, Shi Zhongheng and Wang, academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Institute of Engineering, were also trained.
