1999, Geely Holding Group founded the geely university, which started the educational origin of geely university. In 20 14, the Ministry of Education issued a document approving Beijing Geely University to be upgraded to an undergraduate university and renamed it Beijing Geely University. Since then, the college has passed the evaluation of the right to award bachelor's degrees in Beijing, and then won the honor of "5A-level social organization" awarded by Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau. In 2020, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Geely University was moved to Chengdu as a whole and renamed Geely University.

The new campus of Geely University is located near Longquan Lake, Jianzhou New Town, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, 40 kilometers away from the center of Chengdu. The whole campus has an excellent geographical location and convenient transportation. The surrounding area is connected with Chengdu, such as Jianshe Expressway, Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway, Chongqing-Chengdu Expressway and Second Ring Expressway. The Chengdu Metro 13 line under construction goes directly to the school. The school covers an area of 2000 mu, with a total planned construction area of 654.38+0.2 million square meters. Planning and capital construction shall be carried out according to the educational scale of 35,000 people.
Beijing Campus of Geely University is located in the northeast of Xishan, Zhong Ling, with beautiful scenery. The school covers an area of 1.300 mu, with a total construction area of 450,000 square meters. The school library covers an area of 24,000 square meters, with 660,000 books and 6,543,800 e-books. The school has nearly 100 experimental training rooms and more than 50 off-campus training bases. The existing automotive engineering colleges, business schools, humanities and design colleges, and liberal arts colleges have strong hardware strength.
