Located in Guilin Yang Campus, Meilan District, Haikou City, Hainan Province. Founded in 1983 and formerly known as Hainan Normal University, the school is one of the oldest universities in Hainan Province. In 2007, Hainan Normal University was upgraded to an undergraduate university and renamed Hainan University.
