A paper on Confucius
Confucius was the first great educator and thinker in Chinese history and the founder of Confucianism. His theory had a far-reaching impact on the development of China culture and became a symbol of China culture. He was not only called a "saint" by scholars of all ages, but also attracted more and more attention from the world in the era of reform and opening up, and was listed as one of the top ten celebrities in the world. But Confucius has different images in different times and in different people's hearts, and everyone has his own image of Confucius in his heart. We have always wanted to know: what kind of person is Confucius? What kind of influence does he have on China culture and world culture? This is very important for China people at present. What I can do, and all of you can do, is to keep moving closer to the original Confucius in history, but at the same time, our understanding cannot but be branded with the times, which is why Confucius is always worth re-studying. The cultural tradition of China initiated by Confucius has not completely become a thing of the past, nor has it become a "wandering soul" as some scholars have said. The problem is how to interpret and understand. Confucius' life is a life of pursuing the ideal realm of life, a life of pursuing social peace and world peace, and a life full of tragedies. Many great men in the world have tragic lives, but their specific experiences and circumstances are different. In his time, Confucius can be said to be "knowing what he can't do", which seems to be against the trend. But he dedicated his life to his own nation and mankind, so he was called the sage of the East. In the current dialogue between China and the West, Confucius is a symbol of oriental culture. First of all, let me briefly talk about Confucius. Confucius was later honored as a saint. In fact, his life is very ordinary. In his later years, he summed up his life's self-cultivation process: "I am determined to learn five out of ten, stand at thirty, not be confused at forty, know my destiny at fifty, be obedient at sixty, and not overstep my bounds at seventy." ("The Analects of Confucius for Politics") This summary generally explains the life course of Confucius. Confucius lost his father at the age of three and his mother at the age of three, and his family was poor. Confucius was born underground. When he was young, his mother moved his family to Qufu, the capital of Lu. Why did you move to Qufu? Qufu was the cultural and political center at that time. Lu is a descendant of Duke Zhou, who is a "system of rites and music". Qufu was a place where cultural classics were concentrated at that time, and Confucius grew up in this environment. Confucius played games when he was very young, which showed his uniqueness. Sima Qian recorded in Historical Records Confucius Family that Confucius: "For children's play, the cowpea of the forbidden army is a gift." Playing etiquette games with ritual vessels is different from ordinary children. When Confucius was very young, his mother died. He said, "I am cheap because I have few people" (The Analects of Zi Han). I was humble when I was young, so I learned a lot of humble things. Confucius used to be an official in charge of grain, grass, cattle and sheep in Shandong. It was a small matter, but he did it carefully. When he manages the warehouse, he is "just enough accounting" and is very careful; When he was a cattle officer, cattle and sheep were very fat. This shows that no matter what Confucius does, even a small thing, he does it very seriously, regardless of his eyes. This is what a great man did. Confucius studied very diligently all his life and never stopped, because "nine times out of ten, he was determined to study". His learning attitude, in his own words, is "forgetting to eat with anger, forgetting to worry with joy, and not knowing that old age is approaching" (The Analects of Confucius). Experience the fun of learning. Different from some people who regard learning as a means to achieve other goals, learning is a part of Confucius' life, which can cultivate and improve his personality and improve his realm. As he said, "The knower is not as good as the good, and the good is not as good as the musician." There is a pleasure in learning knowledge. Confucius lived like this all his life. He cherishes his life very much. "Angry and forgetting to eat, happy and forgetting to worry" can be said to be a summary of his life. Confucius learned everything all his life, but learned nothing from his teachers (The Analects of Confucius, Zhang Zi). During his life's experience, he studied and consulted the people of a small vassal state at that time on historical and cultural issues, and also went to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (now Luoyang) to ask for gifts. It is said that he also asked Lao Zi for gifts. By the way, there are two schools of China culture, one is Confucianism represented by Confucius, and the other is Taoism represented by Laozi. There used to be a saying that Confucianism and Taoism "complement each other", with different ideas, but they can complement each other and form tension, so that China culture can continue. This statement is debatable. I think Confucianism and Taoism have the same root. Especially in the contrast between Chinese and western cultures, we can see this clearly. For example, Laozi, a bamboo slip unearthed in Guodian, Hubei Province, is much earlier than the current version. There are some key points that are different from the current version. The biggest difference is that the current version is critical of Confucianism, while the unearthed version is not essentially different from Confucianism in many places. This further proves that their basic ideas are of the same origin. At that time, Confucius lived in an era when the emperor lost his official position and was studying everywhere. In the Zhou and Shang Dynasties, school education was official and nobles could learn. General/ Guo Xue/060405/1522974.html.
