At the beginning of the 20th century, Duff was as famous as Peking University, Tsinghua and Yanjing, and also enjoyed a high reputation in Chinese society at home and abroad. In addition to being a breakthrough in campus democracy and an important town of student movement during the martial law period in Taiwan Province Province, it has become one of the few private universities in Taiwan Province Province with well-known alumni in the fields of law and politics, academics, media, literature and art, textile industry and sports, including a Nobel Peace Prize winner, quite a few academicians and countries.
