Hunan University, referred to as "Huda", is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and ranks among the national "double first-class", "985 Project" and "21/project". It is the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Hunan Provincial People's Government, and the National Defense Science and Technology.

He has been selected into "Strong Foundation Plan", "Everest Plan", "20 1 1 plan", "11plan", excellent engineer education and training plan, excellent legal talent education and training plan, national postgraduate plan for building high-level universities and national new engineering research and development.

The transformation and technology transfer base of scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities, the National Intellectual Property Demonstration University, the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, and the scholarship receiving institution of the China Municipal Government for overseas students are members of the BRICS University Alliance and the "Yangtze River-Volga River" University Alliance.

Hunan University originated from Yuelu Academy, which was founded in 976 AD. 1903 was transformed into a Hunan higher education institution, 1926 was named as a provincial Hunan university, 1937 became a 15 national university of the national government.

In 1950, Mao Zedong wrote down the name of the school. 1953 was renamed as central south institute of architecture and engineering in the adjustment of national departments, and 1959 restored the name of Hunan university. In 2000, it merged with Hunan University of Finance and Economics to form a new Hunan University.

As of March 2023, the school campus covers an area of 24 1 000 square meters, with a building area of 654,338+0.34 million square meters and a collection of 7.634 million books. There are 27 colleges and 78 undergraduate majors.

There are 28 post-doctoral research stations, 30 first-class doctoral programs, 37 first-class master programs and 26 professional degree authorization categories. There are more than 4,300 faculty members, including 2,300 full-time teachers and 36,000 full-time students, including 2 1.00 undergraduates and 0/.05 postgraduates.
