First, excellent application time.
Generally speaking, the application for studying in the UK can be divided into three stages. As far as regular autumn admission is concerned, the best application period can be divided into three periods, namely:
The first excellent time period:
Christmas in September 1 year.
This is also the first round of application for studying in the UK. At this stage, it is not difficult to issue an offer, because British universities will be more relaxed when examining the application materials of applicants, which is also related to the small number of students applying.
Therefore, it is suggested that students must grasp the application in the first stage, especially those who want to enter a good school in Britain. The chances of success will be greatly improved if they submit their applications at the first time.
The second best application time:
After Christmas and before the end of May of the following month.
During this period, there are still some vacancies in some majors of the top universities in the UK, but at this time, the application materials of the schools will be much stricter, but it will not be too difficult for applicants.
The third best application time:
June to September before school starts.
This stage has basically entered the end of the application for British universities. Except for a few unpopular majors, many well-known British universities have been filled in. At this stage, students' examination of materials has also become very strict, unless particularly outstanding students are relatively easy to be admitted.
At this stage, even if the students get the offer, if the students' IELTS scores are not enough, it may be futile.
Second, pay attention to when submitting an application.
1. If you don't get good grades and IELTS scores, can't you apply for a British university?
British graduate students can submit their applications without IELTS first.
At the initial stage of application, most institutions do not need applicants to provide IELTS scores (except for individual majors of individual institutions, such as the Business School of Manchester University and the University of Edinburgh, which require students to bring IELTS applications). The school will evaluate you according to your application materials (PS, CV, RL) and give you a conditional offer, and the final IELTS requirement of this major will be reflected in the conditional offer sent to you.
2. When do I need to submit my IELTS scores?
For most students, admission to British schools is divided into two steps:
Step 1: Submit an application and get a conditional offer.
Step 2: Change CAS with the school after meeting the requirements.
As mentioned above, in the absence of IELTS scores, we can submit an application first, and the school will issue a conditional admission notice to the students after the evaluation, which means that the school has reserved places for us.
In terms of conditional admission, the school will require students' average scores and IELTS scores. When students meet all the conditions listed by the school, they can exchange unconditional offer, and then CAS.
After receiving the conditional admission notice, students should concentrate on getting the IELTS score required by the school and meet other admission conditions.
3. IELTS score is too low. Do I have to submit it when I apply?
Undeniably, a low IELTS score will affect your admission success rate, especially when there are a large number of applicants, which will affect the issuance of school offer. Therefore, under normal circumstances, it is recommended that students submit IELTS scores within 0.5- 1 minute from the school.
If there is a big difference, it is still recommended not to fill in the results for the time being. The higher the ranking, the more obvious this phenomenon will be. 10 applicants from top universities have high IELTS scores and are easily rejected.
Top schools ranked 20-30. If you don't submit or have no IELTS score, you can indicate in your resume when you will take the exam and what your expected score is, and then highlight your English ability in the application materials so that the school can have full confidence in your English level.
Third, the submission time of IELTS
Generally speaking, the submission time depends on the students' English level, and can be submitted before the deadline. Because every year, there are always students who can't enter school because their IELTS scores are not up to standard. Therefore, I suggest you take the IELTS test from the end of February to the beginning of March, so as to have enough time to change CAS, apply for a visa and so on.
Although IELTS does not meet the requirements, there is plenty of time to prepare. Students who have a good English foundation and are confident of meeting the requirements of the school can submit their grades at the end of June and the beginning of July at the latest. On the contrary, for students who are not sure about their basic English, it is recommended to submit or apply for language classes before the end of March.
There are two kinds of situations in this problem: not reading Chinese classes and reading Chinese classes.
1. Do not read language classes.
If you don't plan to enroll in a language class, you should provide the final IELTS score before July of that year at the latest. Because, if you can't provide qualified IELTS scores in time, you can't exchange unconditional offer, and then you can't issue CAS in time, and the visa will be delayed. June-July is the peak period for visa processing in Britain. It usually takes 1 month or more to get a visa. If you miss the start of school, you will lose more than you gain.
Reading language course
If you need to enter the language class in advance, it is best to provide the final IELTS score before the middle and late March. The peak period of language application is generally 1-3 months. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that children's shoes be fully prepared for IELTS in the early stage, so as to avoid the final offer of famous schools becoming a piece of waste paper. It should be noted that the official report must be provided when applying for a language course, not a screenshot of official website's scores, so the mailing time of IELTS test report should be counted. Some schools don't have a clear deadline for language classes. In this case, it is recommended to submit the IELTS test report at least four weeks before the start of the language class, so as to reserve enough time to apply for CAS and prepare the visa.
At present, a few British universities also offer language tests instead of IELTS. Generally, you can participate within one week after submitting your application, and your grades will be certified by UKVI, and you can get your grades in 2-3 days. After passing the test, you can apply for a student visa directly.
