The National University of the Philippines is the first university established by the Philippine legislature. It is the largest national comprehensive university in the Philippines.

Its founding purpose is to provide higher education in literature, philosophy, science and art, and to cultivate students' professional knowledge and technology.

There are 56 colleges in the school, 27 of which can award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. It is the center of national art and science, among which health science, agriculture, forestry and aquaculture are quite professional.

Private universities:

(1) De La Salle University is a first-class aristocratic Christian school in the Philippines. The school is the second-ranked university in the Philippines and the first-ranked private university, and its graduates are well received by employers.
